How Cecilia Got Stronger at 67, and Found Her People at CrossFit Revival

When Cecilia first walked into CrossFit Revival, she wasn’t chasing a PR or a competition. She was chasing her life back.
Diagnosed first with osteoarthritis, then later with rheumatoid arthritis, Cecilia had gotten a clear message from her doctors: lose weight, build muscle, or watch your joints deteriorate. Every pound she dropped meant four pounds less pressure on her knees. Every pound of muscle she built meant more time on her own two feet.
“I Liked It AND Joined.”
What inspired you to start at CrossFit Revival?
“I had been on a weight loss journey for several years with good success and had started adding weighted workouts with Beachbody that I enjoyed. I had a friend who had joined CrossFit and liked it, so I went to a bring-a-friend day. I liked it and joined.”
No dramatic moment. No rock bottom. Just a friend, a visit, and a decision.
Getting Stronger, One Week at a Time
How has CrossFit Revival changed your life or your daily routine?
“When I started, I could only do the personal training because I was working full-time and could not spare an hour in the mornings. I did that for about 3.5 years. This spring, I moved to part-time remote work and started participating in the classes and I love them! Yes, there are some days when the workouts are really hard and I want to give up, but I can feel myself getting stronger each week. I now look forward to the classes and have increased to four classes per week instead of three.”
From 1-on-1 personal training to four classes a week at 67.
That’s not a small thing. That’s a complete transformation in what fitness looks like in someone’s daily life.
The Proudest Accomplishment Has Nothing to Do With a Barbell
What’s your proudest accomplishment since joining CrossFit Revival?
“I would say the increased strength I feel every day. My husband has had some serious health challenges in the past year, and I am able to pick up the tasks he cannot do any longer.”
Read that again…
Her proudest moment isn’t a weight she lifted in the gym. It’s being there for her husband, when he needed her most.
This is why we do this. For moments like this one, where the strength you built at 5:30am on a Tuesday morning shows up when your family needs you.
That’s functional fitness. That’s CrossFit Revival.
“Everyone encourages me to keep going”
What makes CrossFit Revival unique to you?
“All the people, coaches included, are so very encouraging. I sometimes am the last one to finish a workout and usually the oldest class participant when I’m there, but everyone encourages me to keep going.”
There is no “too old” here. No “too slow.” No “too out of shape.” CrossFit Revival is a place for people who are still figuring it out, at any age, at any level.
